KARACHI: Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Wednesday said a new facility was being established at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to treat and diagnose ailing children.
`The OPD of the new facility would take care of over one thousand children daily.
`It is bound to provide treatment to children in critical condition on a priority basis without putting parents through formalities,` said Mr Akhtar during a visit to the children`s hospital in Korangi No. 5 being run by an NGO.
The mayor visited various wards of the hospital and received a detailed briefing on its performance.
He was informed that the facility provided diagnosis and medical treatment free of cost to children aged up to 14 years.
Mayor Akhtar said the same charity was providing similar medical facilities to children at the Civil Hospital Karachi and National Institute of Child Health.
He called it a good omen that the CLF helped the facilities run by the city municipalities, as it would improve the delivery system at the KMC-run hospitals, and provide comfort to the common man.
