Jashn-i-Marwat to mark silver jubilee of Lakki district

LAKKI MARWAT: The local administration has decided to organise dif ferent events to mark the silver jubilee of the district.
In this connection, a committee was formed to finalise different events and activities to commemorate upgrdadation of Lakki Marwat as a district in July 1992. The committee,headedbyAssistantCommissioner SadagatullahKhan, was constituted in a meeting held here on Wednesday with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan in the chair.
Besides army officials, DPO Syed Khalid Hamdani, Assistant Commissioner Sadagatullah Khan, DEO Abdus Salam, TMOs Ejaz Rahim and Hamid Mansoor, DSO Ameer Zahid and of ficials of line departments attended the meeting.
`The Marwat tribesmen and those living on their soil should be proud over completion of 25 years of the district, the deputy commissioner told the meeting. He appreciated local people for playing effective role in development of Lakki Marwat af ter it was awarded the status of district.
The deputy commissioner said that holding Jashn-iMarwat in connection with silver jubilee celebrations was aimed at recognising the role played by local people for promotion of peace and harmony.
He directed the members of the committee to arrange events and activities adhered to local culture and traditions. He said that efforts should be made to provide local people with opportunities of enjoyment and positive entertainment.
LAID TO REST: The mother of district nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan Meenakhel and Additional IGP Dr Ishtiaq Marwat was laid to rest at Bukhari Shah graveyard in Lakki city.
Her funeral prayers were of fered at Eidgah near the main bus stand. A large number of people including police officials attended the funeral prayers.
IGP Salahuddin Mehsud also visited Meenakhel House on Wednesday and shared condolence with district nazim and additional IGP on the sad demise of their mother. Lakki DPO Syed Khalid Hamdani also accompanied him. They prayed for the departed soul and expressed sympathies with the members of bereaved f amily.
