Man held over cheque bounce

MANSEHRA: The local police on Wednesday booked the husband of the prime accused in the Haj scam case over the cheque bounce.
However, Sajid wasn`t arrested by night despite several raids by the police.
The registration of FIR against the man comes on the complaint of Abdul Haq, a victim of H aj scam.
The complainant insisted that Shahnaz Sajid had received Rs13 million from a group of 74 people for sending them on Haj last year but disappeared before their departure to Saudi Arabia.
He added that the woman`s husband, Sajid, later gave him and other scam victims a Rs13 million cheque, which was dishonoured by the relevant bank. Also in the day, the police booked 12 people for renting out houses in Oghi and adjoining areaswithoutinforming them.
Police official Ali said such house owners would be arrested soon for trial in the relevant court.He also said the police also booked three people for illegally bring gunshots into the air.
Meanwhile, the Oghi police on Wednesday sent their team to Mardan to bring back a suspected criminal for legal action.
Oghi police station SHO Wajid Ali told reporters that Mohammad Bilal was wanted for several serious crimes, including fraud, and killing a man by knocking him down on the road on last Eid.
He said the suspect was arrested by the Mardan police, who also captured a huge cache of narcotics and fake vehicle number plates from him.
`We expect the wanted man`s custody from the Mardan police in a day or two and hope that once this happens, he will make revelations about criminal activities in the district,` he said.
The SHO said the suspect was also involved in the kidnapping of a local doctor`s daughter and many fraud cases impersonating him the son of former governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan.
