MOUNTAINS are important for the survival of humanity. The Holy Quran describes mountains as `pegs on earth`, which prevent it from shaking.
The notion is endorsed by modern day geography. However, travelling from Islamabad to Hazara, one can easily notice the massive overlool(ed excavation of mountains in the vicinity of Islamabad, Taxila and Abbottabad.
This excavation can have several repercussions. It is a direct threat to nature and it invites massive earthquakes and natural disasters.
I urge governmental and nongovernmental agencies working in the field to take notice of these excavations and stop humans from dragging themselves to destruction.
