GIVING an interview to a foreign TV channel recently, PTI leader Imran Khan, perhaps, came down hard on the Taliban, and called them terrorists for killing innocent people. He categorically said that he had never supported them.

Another recent development, for which many political parties castigated Imran, was the grant of Rs 30million by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to the Haqqani seminary.

Mr Khan said the provincial government did not consult him before taking this decision. He, however, supported the decision stating that the measure was taken to bring the madressahs into the mainstream.

An important question, however, which begs an answer is: has the management of the Haqqani seminary given any assurances to the KP government, that the funds will be used only for modernising the institution and not anything else? Akbar Jan Marwat Islamabad
