Bolan Medical College

2016-08-06
THIS is to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to the fact Bolan Medical Complex Hospital in Quetta, established in 2000 and graded as a tertiary-care hospital of the province, lacks basic facilities like standard labs and reliability of their investigations.

There is no provision for a CT scan which is an important investigative tool for a hospital. Thus stroke patients are often referred to private hospitals for doing a CT scan of the brain.

Besides, this hospital is recognised for postgraduate residency training under the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan, Karachi. But in the absence of facilities the residents are facing much difficulties in their training, as during evening and night shifts the lab and radiology departments are closed.

This delays timely diagnosis and management of patients.

The emergency department needs to beupgraded where qualified staf f should be posted for immediate management of serious patients of gun shots and other injuries.

There is no ICU at the hospital, as a result of which serious patients suffer greatly.

Although the hospital is a teaching hospital, there is no academic environment.

The hospital lacks a research centre where doctors need to be helped in getting their researched articles published.

I appeal to the health minister, health secretary and the chief minister to help resolve these problems.
