KARACHI: A 10-yearold girl in Sharifabad was killed on Sunday when her throat was slit by a string of a kite being fl own from an unidentifi ed location, police said.

They added that Tayyaba Afzal was riding a motorbike with her father on Sir Shah Mohammad Suleman Road when her neck was slit by a kite string.

She was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The relatives of the victim reportedly told the media that an ambulance which carried the injured girl became stuck in a traffi c jam due to an alleged illegal cattle market on the road between Gharibabad and Liaquatabad.

They demanded action against manufacturing of such a deadly string in Karachi on pattern of Lahore.

Meanwhile, Sharifabad SHO Azeem Baig said that the father, Mr Afzal, told the police that he did not want to pursue the case.—Staff Reporter
