12,400 appear in PUCIT entrance test

By Our Staff Reporter 2018-08-06
LAHORE: More than 12,400 students appeared in the entrance test at the Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT) here on Sunday for admission to the undergraduate degree programmes for 567 seats.

The college will admit one out of every 22 students who have shown interest in getting admission to the PUCIT.

The test was conducted in four shifts in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) examination halls on Sunday. The results were uploaded to the PUCIT website before midnight.

The answer-sheets were graded through an indigenous automated system consisting of high-speed scanners and state-of-theart software that uses smart computer vision and image processing algo-rithms to detect correct answers.

PUCIT Principal Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar said, `The system produces individualized answer-sheets for the candidates containing their name, roll number, seat number, hall number, etc.

It has matured over the past four years and produces no errors.

`The primary purpose of developing the system was to add to the transparency and efficiency that the college has yearned for over the past decade.

The college is helping other academic units of the Punjab University and is ready to help organisations for the same purpose.

Dr Sarwar further said this system would soon be integrated into PUCIT`s existing indigenous opensource Campus Management Solutions (CMS) software to complete the full `admission to graduation` system.
