NEW DELHI: Nineteen people were killed and 34 injured in a communal clash yesterday [Sept 4] in the Tajmurid Khan area, under the Sabzimandi police station, Delhi, according to a Press note issued by the District Magistrate... .

Three people were arrested... . Twelve people were killed and 50 injured in the clashes in New Delhi. ...The people fired at the looters and three people were killed. A large number of arrests were made and f amilies of minority communities who were besieged ... were evacuated by the Deputy Commissioner to safe areas.

Following a number of incidents of communal rioting and looting the District Magistrate for the first time imposed curfew in two areas in the New Delhi Municipality.

[Meanwhile, as reported from Lahore,] Police activity in the city and the rural areas of L ahore has been further intensihed against the unsocial elements. During the last two days, property worth Rs 5,00,000 believed to have been looted duringtherecentdisturbances,hasbeen recovered from the country-side.
