Turning 30`

2015-10-06
APROPOS the letter `Turning 30` (Oct 3).

One admires the courage of a woman to proceed and grow professionally, but the assumption that turning 30 is gender-biased is misplaced. Even if men are not getting married by then, eyebrows are raised in certain circles even considered weird.

In the corporate world, the success story is, catch them young irrespective of gender.

If an employee cannot justify his placement at the managerial level before he is 30 years beacuse his chances of finding a position as a manager become slim past this age. The reason that the path of his progression becomes apparent and only consolidation is required for his /her future growth in career.

I would like to add that while watching a programme some time back on the BBC, the observation was: the new entrepreneurs are emerging from Asia; they are young and mostly women.
