RCB to discuss civilian-populated areas` problems

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) will meet today (Tuesday) for the first time in 16 years to discuss problems of civilian-populated areas.

They are also expected to approve the formation of a committee for purchasing land for a new graveyard.

After a long gap, the 24-member board, with its 12-elected members, will meet to approve plans for maintenance and repair work, building plans and the formation of a committee for purchasing a landfill site and graveyard.

RCB`s annual budget for 2015-16 had set aside Rs200 million for the repair and maintenance of roads, streets and drains.

Elected members are expected to present reports of the bad conditions of roads in Tench Bhatta, Dhoke Syedan Road to Kassai Chowk, Kamalabad and other lowincome areas.

Talking to Dawn, RCB vice president Raja Jehandad Khan said the board would meet to discuss the problems of civilianpopulated areas and for the approval of pending issues.

He said elected members will also present the problems of people in their areas.

The RCB vice president said the board had allocated Rs300 million for annual development work in various areas and elected members will present their plans for new development work.

The board has not invited any print or electronic media into the meeting.

In the past, reporters were invited to record the proceedings of the board`s meetings.
