LAHORE: The Medical and Dental Colleges` Admission Test (MDCAT) will be held again this month as evidence of its question paper leak has been found.
`The evidence will be made public within the next two to three days,` said Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khwaja Salman Rafique at a hurriedly-called news conference at the DGPR office on Thursday.
The minister said a joint investigation team was constituted to thoroughly probe the matter and `find out the persons responsible for such an offence and to fix responsibility upon government servants to get the MDCAT conducted in the most professional manner.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences, Prof Dr Junaid Sarfraz Khan, had been sent on forced leave, said the minister while adding that the MDCAT would be conducted during the ongoing month.
To a question, Khwaja Salman said the process of admission to medical and dental institutions would also be delayed by a few weeks.
It may be recalled that four hours after the conclusion of MDCAT on Aug 20, diagrams of the physics section of the paper along with a few retyped questions were posted on a Facebook account named `Ya mbbs ha mamu`, in an attempt to give an impression that the paper was leaked before the test.
The UHS approached the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) the following day with the request to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring all those to justice who were involved in the leak.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had on Aug 23 constituted a committee to probe the alleged leak. It was to submit within 72 hours its report to the chief minister whether or not the MDCAT was conducted properly.
