Dawn Spelling Bee contests held

LAHORE:Faisalabadpool round of the 13th Dawn in Education Spelling Bee Competition concluded at Iqbal Auditorium of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Thursday.

The students who participated in the regional competition were divided into three age groups, le 9 to 11, 12 to 14 and 15 to 17.

In the category of 9 to 11 years, International Learning School System Faisalabad`s Tayyaba Khurramstoodfirst,Maryam Girls Secondary School Chenab Nagar`s Komal Nadeem second and Maryam Siddiga Higher Secondary School Chenab Nagar`s Sania Ayala remained third.

In the 12-14 age group, Nehal Farhan of the First Steps School of Arts and Sciences Faisalabad got the first position, Ibraheem Saqib Elahi of the Learning Alliance Faisalabad stoodsecond and Ayaan Majeed of the Learning Alliance Faisalabad remained third.

In the 15-17 year age group, Amatul Qayoom from Nusrat Jehan Academy for Girls Chenab Nagar stood first, Uzma Maryam from Maryam Siddiga Higher Secondary School Chenab Nagar second and Minahil Bilal from Nusrat Jehan Academy Girls Chenab Nagar remained third.

The chief guest was UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar.

Tanwir Shah was the pronouncer while the judges were Sadia Waheed, Gul Sana, Aisha Zulfiqar Chaudhry, Ansa Sattar, Muhammad Bilal and Aleem Shakir. Rabeela Salman was Dawn moderator.

The nine winners of the Faisalabad pool round will compete with the Multan and Lahore pools winners on Oct 28 in the provincial capital.Reporter
