Spy agency seeks land for expansion of offices

ISLAMABAD: An intelligence agency has asked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the allocation of land to construct an additional building.

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has decided to expand its offices and sought a 32-kanal plot adjacent to its mainbuildinginIslamabad.

On the request of the civilian spy agency, the CDA is all set to allocate the plot to it.

The matter was to be taken up at the CDA board meeting on Thursday.

However, the civic agencypostponed the meeting to Monday.

`Yes, on the request of the intelligence agency we have identified a 32 kanal land and the CDA board will take up the matter on Monday, Mayor and acting CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz confirmed to Dawn.

He said the board approves the allotment of land to government offices subject to final approval by the prime minister. `If the board agrees, the CDA will send the summary to the prime minister for the final approval,` he said. A Reporter
