Police given instant access to PSCA data

LAHORE: The Lahore police in collaboration with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on Tuesday introduced tablets integrated with criminal record of proclaimed offenders, e-challan data, stolen and black listed vehicles and other necessary information to curb crime in the provincial metropolis.

Capital City Police Officers (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar inaugurated the installation of tablets in eight vehicles of Police Response Units (PRUs) at a ceremony at the PSCA.

The tablets have been linked with the PSCA enabling the of ficers and of ficials of PRU teams to get all necessary informationfrom the authority during patrolling, snap and surprise checking and the monitoring of the processions and other law and order related activities through live view cameras installed on their vehicles.

He said these gadgets have been installed in eight vehicles of the PRU Shahdara,Kahna,Sherakot, Chung and Harbanspura as a pilot project.

This facility was provided to the LTE handsets of traffic police to track the stolen and e-ticketed vehicles as well as criminals with record, he said.

The CCPO said the tablets would be expanded to all the remaining vehicles of the PRU af ter analysing performance of the scheme.Staff Reporter
