`Salam Teachers Day` observed

KOHAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly member Ziaullah Khan Bangash has declared that the Single National Curriculum introduced by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government will provide both the rich and poor students with equal opportunities of excelling in their lives.

He was speaking at a function held in the district council hall here on Tuesday to mark the `Salam Teachers Day`.

Mr Bangash termed teachers as the backbone of education system.

Deputy commissioner Roshan Mehsud, deputy director, National Commission for Human Development Ameer Mohammad, district education of ficers (male and female) AbdulSalam Marwat and Rizwana Liaquat were also present. The lawmaker said only teachers could bring positive change in society by providing quality educadontostudents.

On the occasion, the deputy commissioner said character of the civilised nations was judged from education and respectforteachers.

Meanwhile, members of the Kohat Youth Parliament presented rose cards and Pakistaninags to educators at a function.

Speaking at the event, the teachers termed Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the greatest teacher of all times.

They said the prophet`s teachings and guidance were all the more relevant to society today.Kohat Youth Parliament president Syed Hanan Shah had asked the of ficebearers at union council and tehsil levels to pay respects to teachers on the day observed on Oct 5 each year.

President of Kohat private teachers association Rab Nawaz, however, said teachers enjoyed immense respect three to four decades ago and were regarded as parents, but now the students did not obey them.

FUMIGATION: All the mosques and tyre shops were fumigated against dengue in Bahadar Kot and its adjoining localities on Tuesday.

The TMA teams also asked the people to remove water in open spaces and use mats and coils at night to keep mosquitoes at bay. Correspondent
