OKARA: An accused was killed in an encounter with police at Chak 21/2-L in the Renala Khurd City police area on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Chuchak police were taking Maqbool Ahmad, son of Yaqoob Kharal, a resident of Chak 56/D, to court. When they reached near Chak 9/1-R, two motorcyclists appeared on the road and started shooting at the police vehicle. They got Maqbool Ahmad released and escaped with him on the bike.

District Police Officer Faisal Rana established three teams under his subordinate deputy superintendents of police to trace the culprits.

At night, Chuchal< SHO Aftab Sabir received a tip-off that the three culprits were hiding in a room of a fruit farm at Chal< 21/2-L in Renala Khurd City police station.The police conducted a raid but the culprits opened fire, starting an encounter. After the shooting from the criminals stopped, police found Maqbool Ahmad Kharal was lying seriously injured with a pistol in hand whereas his two accomplices had escaped.

Kharal breathed his last when he was being shifted to the THQ Hospital Renala Khurd.

ORDER: Additional District and Sessions Judge Azhar Ali Jafri directed the B Division police to record the statement of Fayyazul Haq Azhar, a candidate for councilor`s slot from Ward-17.

Azhar was arrested the 7-ATA and other sections along with his accomplices. He had submitted an application before the court that on the election day, the police, headed by SSP Investigation Masud Magsi along with 18 persons, entered his house, damaged household items and disgraced his family. The court also directed the police to take appropriate action.
