TRANSPARENCY International has reported that Pakistan has improved its international reputation by reducing corruption whereas the local populace hasfelt no difference except in the case of a few honestand transparent verdicts by the supreme judiciary, which may not be implemented at all.
I do not envision what Transparency International reports.
But whatever change has occurred is all due to the stern verdicts passed by the judiciary.
Unfortunately, corrupt politicians who reach assemblies pass confusing legislation in which they leave room for corruption.
They advertise jobs in a way so that only a few already selected candidates meet the criteria.
Besides, tender notices favour only those who cosy up to the people in power.
This is called corruption.
Hence, international institutions like Transparency International play a major role in curbing corruption. We need to fortify institutions like the National Accountability Bureau by making them independent.
