Balochistan and the issue of missing persons

2013-12-06
THE Supreme Court has been playing a pertinent role in the missing persons case.

It is unfortunate that all of a sudden people disappear and nobody is held accountable.

Many people have been missing for five to six years.

It seems that there is a state within a state.

The issue of the missing persons is basically associated with the province of Balochistan.

A parallel government is being run there.

Over the years the security agencies have been accused of holding these missing persons on account of their alleged anti-state activities.

As a result, many a family has suffered.

It is time legislators devised laws and curtailed the powers of the intelligence agencies.

While the law and order situation is extremely bad, suspected persons should only be picked up by the security agencies when it is fully confirmed that the person is involved in anti-state activities or terrorism or some other undesirable activities.

I appeal to the directorgeneral of the ISI to return all innocent people to their families.
