Resolving sectarian problems

2013-12-06
PAKISTAN is faced with injustice, lawlessness, terrorism, extremism, sectarian killing and targeted killing on a racial or provincial basis.

Targeted and sectarian killings are a result of lawlessness.

But the fundamental question is, what are the main factors behind such killings? It is an open secret that many religious parties and sects are supporting terrorism against other sects.

Extremists belonging to all sects are responsible for this dreadful situation and so are religious scholars and clergymen.

The government should introduce religious tolerance in textbooksstarting from the primary level throughout Pakistan.

Religious harmony can be created by religious scholars. The government should take precautionary steps to design a syllabus in which the thoughts of all Islamic sects are integrated.

Why has the government failed to improve the law and order situation? Why are our agencies not working effectively to stop these horrible incidents? Why are anti-state elements becoming strong and more powerful than the law-enforcement and other state agencies? Who is their protector? Why has the police department failed to secure thelives of the people? Why has the government failed to t anti-state elements who are killing in the name of Islam? Why has the democratic government forgotten the real face of democracy? Why is it unable to protect the fundamental rights of this nation? I request religious scholars and the government to show the real face of Islam.

They must come out for peace, religious harmony and fraternity and show respect for all beliefs whether they are Sunni, Shia, Sikh or Christian.
