LAHORE: Iqbal Town CIA claim to have arrested nine members of a dacolts gang involved in the murder of 11 citizens,includingapoliceconstable, and recovered looted items as well as illegal weapons from their possession.

The criminals had also injured 16 people, including an FIA constable, during 52 cases of dacoity.

A police team, headed by Iqbal Town CIA DSP Riaz Shah, was constituted on the instructions of Capital City Police Officer retired Capt Amin Wains to check crimes.

The team nabbed Gujjar Gang ringleader Usman alias Gujjarand its eight other members.

Those arrested included Shakir Ali, Rehman, Shahzad, Javed, Ali Hasan Baloch, Riaz Husain, Tariq and Asif.

The criminals used to commit dacoity in police uniform and on motorcycles with bogus number plates of police.

Rehman used to drive a rickshaw and provide information to the ringleader about the citizens who visited banks.

The criminals confessed to 52 cases of dacoity, murder and attempted murdered in various areas of the city. Police have also recovered two cars, a rickshaw, a motorcycle and illegal weapons from their possession.
