By Our Correspondent 2014-12-06
SWABI: Activists of Jamiat Talaba-iIslam (JTI), the student wing of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F, held a protest demonstration here on Friday against the government failure to arrest the killers of Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro, who was shot dead in Sukkur a week back.

The JTI activists gathered at the main party office and started marching from there to the Captain Karnal Sher Khan Chowk, holding placards and raising slogans against the murder of Dr Soomro, and demanded arrest of his killers without delay.

The protesting activists were led by district president Gohar Rehman and tehsil Swabi president Javid Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rehman said that JUI-F had been tar-geted under a conspiracy and Dr Soomro had become the victim of the same evil plan. `The murderers wanted to stop him (Mr Soomro) from his continued struggle for the rights of the Sindhi people,` he said.

Javid Khan said that the government failed to take meaningful steps to arrest the killers of Dr Soomro. `If the killers of our leader are not arrested, we will widen the scope of the protest across the country. The government should realise the delicacy of the issue,` warned Mr Javid.

PAK TO OVERCOME ITS PROBLEMS: Dr Inam-ul-Haq, the pioneer of Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), said on Friday that Pakistan would come over its internal and external challenges.

He was speaking at a seminar organ-ised by the department of management sciences and humanities, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology.

He spoke in detail about how Pakistan achieved its nuclear capability despite the various sanctions imposed by the US and its allies to scuttle the country`s efforts to achieve the potential. `Pakistan enjoys a unique place in the Islamic world owing to its being the nuclear power,` he said.

He also spoke about the late Pakistan`s president Ayub Khan, prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and various scientists and leaders who played their due role in the establishment of the various institutions and sending people aboard to acquire higher education.
