PPP office-bearers told to mobilise workers for Lahore meeting

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan People`s Party (PPP) Punjab chapter has started preparations to make the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) public meeting in Lahore on Dec 13 successful.

In this regard, PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira held a meeting with office-bearers of the party`s Rawalpindi chapter and asked them to bring a maximum number of people from all union councils of the city.

He conveyed the message of the party chairman that it was the duty of the office-bearers to make the public meeting a success.

A senior party leader told Dawn that all PPP candidates of 2018 elections and the office-bearers had been asked to gather a maximum number of people for the public meeting. The target for MNAs and MPAs has been fixed at a minimum of 100 people each,`The local leaders and former election candidates across the province have been asked to remain in touch with people in their constituencies.

To a question about the prevention of Covid-19 during the rally, he said the party leaders discussed only the public meeting.

When contacted, PPP City President Babar Jadoon admitted that the party had set the targets for the Lahore public meeting.

He said workers from Rawalpindi and Islamabad would join the Lahore public meeting along with other PDM parties.

He said the city chapter had asked the union councils to make arrangements.

`We will go to the Motorway Interchange in the shape of a rally on Dec 13 and then join other political parties of PDM towards L ahore,` he said.
