LOWER DIR: University of Malakand held annual Gul-i-Daudi (chrysanthemum) exhibition on its main campus here on Thursday.
Vice-chancellor Prof Rashid Ahmad along with other senior faculty members cut the ribbon and opened the exhibition. The event was attended by faculty, administration officers, students and visitors.
A total of 30 different kinds and colours of chrysanthemum were put on display at the exhibition. The exhibition would last for a week. Prof Rashid said that Gul-iDaudi was a blessing for humans and insects in the autumn season. He said that flowers were symbols of love, peace and affection. He said university gardeners started preparations for the exhibition before autumn.
ARREST: Munda police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender identified as Sher Bahadar. Police said that he wanted in a triple murder case since 2008.
Meanwhile, DPO Sali Abbas held a meeting with police officers of Jandol and Maidan circles and directed them to speed up their campaign against crimes in their respective areas. He said that there was no room in the district for criminals involved in drug smuggling, robberies and arm smuggling.
He directed officials to take solid steps for arresting proclaimed offenders and ensuring smooth flow of traffic. He also asked them to keep close liaison with community elders as they played a vital role in curbing street crimes.
JUI-F: The district chapter of Jamiat Ulema-i-IslamFazl on Thursday said that hundreds of workers would participate in the planned `Israel Muradabd` conference in Peshawar on Dec 8.
Addressing a news conference in Timergara Press Club, JUI-F district chief Sirajud Din, former provincial minister Muzafar Syed, Mohammad Rahim Haqqani and others said that the conference would set direction of politics in the region.
They said that motorcycle rallies would be held a day before the onference in every district of the province.
They condemned Israeli forces for killing innocent Palestinians and said world had kept criminal silence over their atrocities. The JUI-F leaders asked party workers to mobilise people in the district so that the event could be made a success. Correspondent
