HYDERABAD: Hyderabad DIG Dr Sanaullah Abbasi on Tuesday directed his immediate subordinate officers to ensure training of investigation officers in the investigation of the cases registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
Presiding over a meeting of senior officers, he said the IOs and other relevant officers should consult the special public prosecutors of the Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) as some cases could be transferred to the proposed military courts. He asked SSPs to arrange for a training workshop in their respective districts to sharpen the IOs` skills with a view to ensure a perfect probe of terrorism cases.
He said focus should be on the concept that no terrorist was released because of improper or defective investigation.
The DIG reviewed the terrorism cases pending before ATCs in the Hyderabad police range and noted that a couple of them might be transferred to the proposed military courts. The meeting was told that there were 171 cases registered under the ATA in the Hyderabad police range. Fiftyight of them were registered in Hyderabad, 26 in Dadu, 35 in Jamshoro, 20 in Thatta, nine in Badin, eight each in Matiari and Sujawal and seven were registered in Tando Allahyar, the DIG was informed.
