NGOs asked to restrict activities over security threats

KOHAT: The district administration has directed all the non-governmental organisations operating in Kohat to restrict their activities to their offices owing to serious security concerns.
Official sources said that the administration issued an advisory to all the NGOs operating in Kohat district to restrict their activities and hold seminars and training workshops inside their buildings. They said that advisory also directed the NGOs to restrict movement of female staff. They said that the directives were issued amid security threats.
The sources said that vacations in the educational institutions, including the Kohat Cadet College, Kohat University of Science and Technology and private schools, had been extended to the end of January over security reasons.
D E A T H ANNIVERSARY: The first death anniversary of student, Aetizaz Hassan, was observed in his home village of Ibraheemzai in Hangu on Tuesday. People from a cross section of society, including politicians and journalists, attended a function held on the occasion, and paid tribute to him for laying down his life while preventing a suicide bomber from bombing his school.
ANP provincial information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, former minister Syed Qalbe Hassan, former Hangu MNA Pir Haider Ali Shah, Amin Mashahdi, intellectuals, teachers, ulema, political and social workers, local elders and army officials were in attendance.
Mian Iftikhar said that Aetizaz Hassan laid down his life to save lives of hundreds of his fellow students.
E D U C A T I O N FACILITIES: A non-governmental organization, Da Sahar Stori, has vowed to improve education and healthcare facilities in Orakzai Agency in collaboration with the army.
Haji Malik Orakzai, the NGO director, told a press conference here on Tuesday that the new officer commanding of the area, Col Irfan Ahmed Gul, had started serious efforts to renovate and improve education and health facilities in Orakzai to pave way for repatriation of IDPs.
He said that his organisation with the support of army had started work on the improvement of schools and hospitals to provide better facilities to people. Correspondent
