Electricity overbilling

2016-01-07
IN November 2015, I received a Rs 17,000 electricity bill as a result of wrong meter reading by the K-Electric staff who mistakenly jotted 850 units instead of 250 units.

I visited the power utility office, filed a complaint and their staff visited my house, checked my load and issued a correct bill for Rs 3,200 and assured me that the amount would be rectified in my next bill.

I was shocked when I received the bill for December asking me to pay Rs 14,000. I paid another visit to their office and was given the same reason. I was overcharged by 500 units. The same procedure was repeated to correct the bill.

I request the power utility authorities to ensure that I am not put to the trouble of taking time off from my workplace to visit their offices, and going through the tedious procedure of being issued a corrected bill.
