KARACHI: A book on Sindh police`s martyrs was launched at Garden police headquarters on Friday.
Written by Dr Afshan Malik, the book, Police: A Social Institution, provides details of policeman who lost their lives in the line of duty and emphases the value of their sacrifices for society`s safety and maintaining law and order.
Speaking on the launching ceremony, the author pointed out that there were 2000 policemen who hadbeen martyred in the Sindh province while fighting against organised crimes and gangs. She said she had provided details of all these martyred policemen.
Ms Malik lamented that sacrifices of policemen were not recognised in society as they should be, adding that the force was vital for maintaining law and order and, therefore, of tremendous significance.
Caretaker Federal Minister for Education Madad Ali Sindhi, and South DIG Syed Asad Raza also spoke on this occasion. They termed the martyred policemen as an asset for the police force and appreciated the efforts of Dr Afshan Malik for highlighting the role of policemen.
