KARACHI: As many as 1,750 students were awarded degrees at the 20th convocation of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (Szabist).

The two-day event was held at the Karachi Expo Centre and concluded on Saturday.

According to a press release, the institute also awarded 21 PhD degrees at the convocation, which was opened by Szabist president Shahnaz Wazir Ali.

Thirty-three students were awarded gold medals while 26 others received silver medals.

A total of 519 students` names were placed on the university`s `Chancellor`s Honor List` for securing 3.50 or over CGPA.

The ceremony was attended by over 5,000 people including Szabist board of governors, management, faculty, staff, graduates,parents, educationists, etc.

Caretaker FederalMinister of Education and Professional Training Madad Ali Sindhi and caretaker Sindh Minister for Information, Minorities Affairs and Social Protection Muhammad Ahmed Shah were the chief guests.
