KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead and another arrested with bullet wounds after an `encounter` off Superhighway early on Saturday morning.

SITE Superhighway Industrial Area police SHO Aijaz Masan said that two suspects were looting people at Wazeer Goth off Superhighway when a police party reached there.

He said in the ensuing encounter, which was also witnessed by residents, one alleged robber, who was identified as Abdul Qadir, 28, was gunned down on the spot while his accomplice Karam Husain, 25, apprehended with bullet wounds.

Two pistols, two motorcycles and the snatched cash were recovered from their possession.

The body and wounded suspect were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Two men injured by robbers A citizen was shot by muggers when he put up resistance during a robbery bid in Mianwali Colony in Orangi Town on Saturday afternoon. However, a police party reached at the spot upon which an encounter ensued in which one of the robbers was arrested with bullet wounds.

Pirabad police SHO Imran Afridi said that citizen Ameer Hamza, 21, was shot during robbery resistance.

In the meantime, a police party reached there which arrested a suspect, Khalid Qasim, with bullet wounds after an encounter. His accomplice escaped.

In another incident, a 22-year-old Anas Ahmed was shot during a robbery near the Board Office early on Saturday morning, said North Nazimabad police.
