RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Raja Waheed Mahfouz, candidate for NA-56 and PP-17, launched his campaign in the garrison city and was determined to win the seatsfor the party.

Raja Waheed Mahfouz, who is the brother of PTI Metropolitan President Raja Nasir Mahfouz, submitted his nomination papers as his brother was in jail in connection with the May 9 riots.

After acceptance of his papers, Raja Waheed Mahfouz launched the campaign and was hopeful that he would get the party ticket in the coming days as his brother was not allowed to contest the polls.

Previously contesting elec-tions in the local government elections from the areas of Satellite Town, Sadigabad, Shamsabad and adjoining areas, the PTI leader said he would try to canvas the voters about the liberal and progressive party agenda to develop the country on modern lines.

He said he would prove that Rawalpindi would be a fort of the party and would defeat others in the general elections scheduled for February 8 as it was done in the last elections.

He said he joined the party two decades ago and in this regard, participated in the last two elections as a party worker, adding that the PTI was still united under the leadership of Imran Khan and the old workers would win the seats for him.
