GUJRANWALA: An explosion caused by a gas leak in a laboratory on Dakkhana Road resulted in a fire that burned the laboratory and damaged nearby shops on Monday.

There was a massive explosion in the Aga Khan Laboratory early in the morning, causing major damage to surrounding shops while thelaboratory caught fire and was destroyed.

The explosion was so intense that locals fled their homes and a wave of terror spread over the area.

The fire was put out by Rescue 1122 firefighters.

Junald and Qadir, inhabitants of the Garhi Awan area, were critically injured in the blast and were taken to hospital, according to rescue sources.
