Lakki, Mianwali officials discuss area security

LAKKI MARWAT: The police and administration officials from Lakki Marwat and Punjab`s Mianwali districts met at the border checkpost in Darra Tang area here on Thursday to discuss inter-district security coordination.

Lakki Marwat deputy commissioner Zeeshan Abdullah and district police officer Mohammad Jawad Ishaq, Mianwali deputy commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya, DPO Akhtar Farooq, additional DC Slaman Ahmad Lone and AC Esakhel Ghulam Murtaza were in attendance.

The officials from both sides discussed the law and situation in the border areas, with special focus on terrorist incidents.

They exchanged suggestions to augment security arrangements at checkposts in the border areas.

Officials from both districts stressed the need for a close police liaison and coordination to counter challenges and effectively respond to the menace of terrorism. They also agreed to further improve inter-border security coordination to bolster security on border checkposts and ensure provision of protection to the people in border areas.

Terrorist attacks have recently been reported in border areas, especially on police installations in both districts.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Zeeshan Abdullah and DPO Mohammad Jawad Ishaq on Thursday checked security arrangements at the police posts located in the area bordering Mianwali. They went to the checkpostsin Darra Tang,Mir Alam and Qaboolkhel areas and met personnel deployed there.

The officials also inspected civilwork at police installations. The district police chief asked personnel to remain alert and ensure strict adherence to the security related standard operating procedures.

He said that all resources were being utilised to maintain law and order and protect the lives and properties of people.

Also in the day, the district police held a ceremony at the District Headquarters Complex Tajazai to commemorate the sacrifices of martyrs and veterans of the police department.

Members of the Marwat Qaumi jirga, relatives of the deceased cops and police officials attended the event.

On the occasion, the jirga leaders paid tribute to the fallen police officials and said that they laid down their lives in the line of duty to protect innocent citizens and eliminate evil elements.

They said that the police martyrs were the heroes of the nation and their supreme sacrifices would be written with golden words in history.

DPO Jawad Ishaq also met the relatives and family members of the martyrs and assured them of taking care of their needs. He said that the doors of his office and residence were always open to the families of martyred cops to listen to their issues.
