KHYBER: More than 100 students from Khyber tribal district, including five girls, appeared in a `talent test` organisedby a group ofyoung social workers having nationalistic leanings.
In order to prepare them for the test, candidates were earlier provided with two books named Khpal Atalan Opezhanai (know your heroes) authored by Ayaz Yousafzai and Shthamana Pakhtunkhwa (resourceful Pakhtunkhwa) written by Mulana Khanzeb.
Organisers of the test told Dawn that contesting students were given two hours to attempt 100 short questions, which most of them attempted in less than one and a half hours. The question paper was prepared by a professor of Islamia College University Peshawar.
Aftab Shinwari, head of the organising committee, told Dawn that the purpose of conducting the test was to encourage tribal students, both boys and girls, to develop a habit of reading books about the natural resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa along with short biographies of the famous and popular Pakhtun leaders and elders in different fields.
He said that it was for the first time that some enthusiastic young Khyberites took the initiative and organised such a talent test, which would hugely benefit the coming generation in correctly knowing their past and studying the achievements of their great leaders.
Mr Shinwari said that candidates securing maximum marks would be given laptops, certificates and reading material after their results were announced in a week`s time.
