Khattak invites Peshawar Zalmi for grand reception

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday invited the PSL second edition winners Peshawar Zalmi and management to the provincial capital for a grand reception to be held on Thursday.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak told reporters at a briefing at the CM House that the provincial government wanted to honour the PSL winners, and for this purpose they had invited the team on Thursday. “We also want to award the four foreign players of the Peshawar Zalmi,” he added.
Earlier, in a series of tweets posted to the PTI twitter account, Mr Khattak called Peshawar Zalmi owner and chairman Javed Afridi and congratulated him on his team’s win. He has also announced Rs20 million cash reward for the PSL winners.
The chief minister said a grand reception for the management and team members of Peshawar Zalmi would either be held in Charsadda or Hayatabad Sports Complex in Peshawar.
He said the KP government was constructing about 100 sports grounds across the province, of which, 70 playgrounds were nearing completion.
He said the government wanted to set up a sport management authority in the province, and invited Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi to head this authority. —Bureau Report
