PESHAWAR: Scores of elected representatives of different village and neighbourhood councils of the provincial metropolis have criticised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for failure to release developmental funds to them, and threatened to block major roads of the capital city if their demand was not met within a week.
Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Monday, nazims and naib nazims of various localities led by Essakhel area nazim Amanullah Khan said the provincial government did not take serious steps to use the local bodies for achieving the objective of development at the gr assroots level.
They said that on one hand the provincial government was claiming to release funds, but on the other, it had allowed bureaucracy to create problems for the local governments.
`We are unable to initiate any development project in our constituencies because the government is not releasing uplift funds,` said Amanullah Khan.-Bureau Report
