KARACHI: The city administration on Thursday urged citizens to immediately report incidents of price hikes to the commissioner`s office as the crackdown on profi-teering continued with action taken against profiteers on the fifth day of Ramazan. Officials said that citizens could file complaints with the commissioner`s office control room at 021-99205634 and 021-99203443.

They added that Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi had directed all deputy commissioners to strictly enforce official prices and take action against profiteers.

The officials stated that a fine of Rs1.95 million was imposed on shopkeepers for price control violations, while 16 profiteers were arrested. Additionally, nine shops were sealed. -Staff Reporter
