Woman, son die in accident on G. T. Road

TAXILA: A jubilant family returning from the airport after Umrah met with a tragic accident, killing a mother and her son and injuring five others, on the G. T. Road near Mullah Mansoor in the limits of Hazro Police station on Thursday, police and rescue sources said.

The sources said that the family, which belongs to Wah Cantonment was returning from Peshawar airport after taking back Umrah pilgrims when while overtaking another vehicle from wrong side, the car rammed into a truck killing Tariq Shah andhis mother on the spot and injuring five others among them two brothers. The dead and injured were shifted to HazroTehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Separately,Two brothers were gunned down over a petty issue in the Khurrum Paracha village in the limits of Taxila police station on Wednesday, police sources said.

Nusrat Shah, the victim, and his brother wanted to install an electric pole on a common land which was opposed by his cousins Tougeer Shah and Toufeeg Shah.

On Wednesday, when Nusrat was working on the site, Tougeer Shah and Toufeeg Shah came and objected to the work.During an exchange of hot words, Nusrat took out his pistol and allegedly shot both brothers dead.

The accused managed to escape from the scene successfully.

Later, the police shifted the bodies to the tehsil headquarters hospital Taxila for autopsies.

Moreover, a man has allegedly gunned down his brotherin-law over a domestic dispute in the Haji Shah village within the limits of Attock Saddar police station.

Police sources said that 25-year-old Muhammad Afsar exchanged hot words with his brother-in-law over the ill-treatment of his sister.After an exchange of harsh words, the man allegedly took out his pistol and shot him dead.

The suspect managed to escape from the scene successfully.

Respective police registered separate cases and launched investigations. Separately, three persons were injured when two motorcycles collided with each other on Nikka Tout Road in thelimits of Pindigheb police station.

The injured were shifted to the Pindigheb headquarters hospital in critical condition.

Due to the non-availability of official ambulances, the shifting of injured persons to the district headquarters hospital in Rawalpindi was delayed forhours, exposing the poor contingency plan of the authorities concerned.

Moreover, a man gunned down his brother-in-law over a domestic dispute in village Haji Shah in the limits of Attock Saddar Police station. Police sources said that 25-year-old Muhammad Afsar exchanged a quarrel with his brother-in-law over the maltreatment of his sister.

After an exchange of heated argument, the man took out his pistol and shot him dead.

The murderer managed to escape from the scène successfully. Respective police registered separate cases and launched a haunt to arrest the fled suspect.
