LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami emir Senator Sirajul Haq says the world should take notice of the use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people by Bashar al-Assad as it is a crime against humanity.

In a statement on Thursday, he deplored that the colonial powers were adding fuel to the fire of civil war in Syria and Iraq and allowing crimes against humanity. The hegemonic powers were further dividing the Muslim world, especially the Middle East, he said.

`The entire region is being driventowards regional, racial and ethnic biases. Iraq has already been divided in three parts while Syria has been split into five parts. Libya and Yemen have also been thrown into a civil war and the international and regional traders of arms and ammunition would not allow the war to come to an end.

Haq added that during the last six years, Bashar administration had killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrians while around 10m people had been forced to migrate. Bashar had crossed all limits of tyranny but the international political players were still keen to keep him in the saddie only to advance their interests, hesaid and urged Russia and Iran not to support Bashar.

LIAQAT: JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch says the establishment`s interference in the election must come to an end.

Addressing the participants in the JI central workshop for party workers at Mansoora, he said fair and free elections were not possible unless the Election Commission of Pakistan was made independent and autonomous in all respects.

He said criminals and plunderers were reaching the assemblies by exploiting the weaknesses of the electoral system and spending their illgotten wealth.
