Hydropower projects Wapda to seek input from ex-chairmen

LAHORE: Wapda has sought valuable inputs from its former chairmen on timely completion of various ongoing hydropower projects. The authority is set to invite its former chairmen in a consultative seminar scheduled to be held at Wapda House during the next weel(. The date/schedule of the event will be announced in a few days.
According to a Wapda spokesperson, the purpose of the consultativeseminar was to get a valuable input from former chairmen on effective water management and hydroelectric generation and for timely completion of ongoing projects.
He claimed that this was the first initiative of its kind taken by Wapda Chairman retired Lt-Gen Muzammil Hussain in which all former chairmen were being invited.
Besides appointing capable and committed officers on various projects, he said some officers were changed from sensitive appointmentsfor their ordinary performance.
He said Wapda with its renewed spirit had energized sick projects and their early completion would overcome the persistent energy and water shortages. Two long-awaited projects -Tarbela 4th Extension and NeelumJhelum -are likely to see the light of the day by 2017 end and by beginning of2018,respectively.
Similarly, he said the Kachhi Canal project was also likely to irrigate 72,000 acres of land in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan by the end of 2017.
