LARKANA: A senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and his son were wounded in an armed attack on their car near Wagan town late on Monday night.
Officials at the Pakho police station said that Hafiz Abdul Qadir Siyal was on his way to Karachi along with his son when unknown assailants opened fire on the car and fled.
They believed that the attackers were highwaymen.
Hafiz Siyal and his son, Abdul Aziz, sustained serious bullet wounds and were taken to the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment.
Hafiz Siyal told local reporters that he had no enmity with anyone but argued that had they been highwaymen, they would have stopped the car. `They just fired on the car and fled,` he said.
JUI-F Sindh leader Maulana Nasir Mehmood Soomro, Larkana district chief Muhabbat Khuhro and other leaders along with party workers visited the hospital and inquired about the health of the victims.
