Woman driver who fired shots in road rage incident granted bail

KARACHl: A judicial magistrate has granted bail to a woman car driver who was arrested for firing shots following a road rage incident in Esa Nagri within the remit of the PIB Colony police station.
According to the FIR, while patrolling near Esa Nagri on the night between Friday and Saturday, an assistant sub-inspector witnessed a trailer driver attempting to overtake a car, resulting in a collision.
However, the car driver, in retaliation, took out her licensed pistol and fired shots into the air in a fit of rage.
Later, the police arrested truck driver Zafar Iqbal and woman driver, Alisha, and registered an FIR at the PIB Colony police station for offences under Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 337 H2 (punishment for hurt by rash or negligent act) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The investigating officer brought both suspects. However, after hearing both sides, the court remanded both suspects to prison in judicial custody as the offences were bailable.
Subsequently, the woman filed a bail application, through her counsel, which was allowed by the court against a surety bond of Rs20,000 along with a personal bond.
