`Absence` of doctors in Swabi hospital protested

SWABI: People protested the absence of doctors to perform autopsy on a body, which was brought to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Chota Lahor, here on Sunday.
Afsar Ali, a brother of the deceased, Mujahid, belonging to Jalsai village, said his brother was shot dead by rivals over aproperty dispute.
`We took the body to the hospital for autopsy at 7.30am and waited for over two hours but neither doctor nor a paramedical staffer payed any heed,` said Ali, adding in the postmortem room there was no light, and a staff member there told them to take the body to Bacha Khan Hospital.Burhan Khan, who contested the 2024 elections from a provincial assembly constituency, said the family of the deceased ran from pillar to post to get the postmortem done, but to no avail.
`The THQ Hospital should be closed because it does not provide services to patients,` he demanded.
The agitated people announced that they would convene a jirga to discuss the absence ofdoctors and otherstaffin the hospital.
Later, the body was taken to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
When contacted, relevant officials said that most of the staffers were on Eid holidays. Correspondent
