Two murdered in separate incidents

LAHORE: A man and a woman were murdered in different areas of the city on Wednesday.

The Niaz Beg police said that 25-year-old Asma, wife of Muhammad Zahid, was present in her house in Gulshan Town when her brother-in-law Sajid came there and injured her with a gunshot fire after exchanging harsh words. She was taken to Jinnah Hospital where she died.

Police shifted the body to a morgue for an autopsy.

Sub-Inspector Muhammad Iqbal said that Sajid suspected that his sisterin-law had sought the help of a sorcerer to kill his mother.

He said Sajid had asked his brother to divorce his wife, but heturned down the suggestion.

The SI said that arrest of the suspect and a case against him would be registered on the report of heirs of the victim woman.

A young man was murdered allegedly by his rivals over an old enmity in Mansoora Bazaar.

Hanjarwal SI Asghar said that 32-year-old Gulfam Khan of Amna Park was going to Multan Chungi when four armed men -Mubarak Shah, Abdul Basit, Habib and Shahid -intercepted him near Kehwa Chowk and shot at and injured him. The injured was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Quoting deceased`s father, the SI said they had a rivalry in their native town in Budh Bair, Peshawar.

Police shifted the body to a morgue for an autopsy and regis-tered a case against four suspects on the complaint of deceased`s father Rana Khan.

TRADER DIES: A trader, who was shot at and injured on Tuesday by two unidentified motorcyclists in Johar Town, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.

Police said Mahmood Khan, 45, a father of four and property dealer by profession, was going to Johar Town when two motorcyclists opened fire on him at Allaho Chowlc. He received critical bullet injuries and was shifted to Jinnah Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

Police shifted the body to morgue forautopsy andlaterhandeditover to family after registration of a case against two unidentified persons.

Police said initial inquiriesshowed that the man was murdered over an enmity. However, relatives claimed that they did not have any enmity.

SUICIDE: A young woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous pills in Shadbagh.

Police said 22-year-old Hina was married to Muhammad Ali of Shershah Road some two years back but she had no child. On Wednesday, she locked herself in a room and consumed poisonous pills. She was tal(en to Mayo Hospital where she could not survive.

Police said the woman in her statement said she was disturbed for not having a child and consumed pills to end her life.

Police handed over the body to the family after completing legal formalities.
