GUJRAT: A Lalamusa-based businessman, who was kidnapped around a week ago, was murdered by his own friend over a monetary dispute and the dead body was thrown into the Upper Jhelum canal near Sara-i-Alamgir.
The army divers succeeded in recovering the dead body late onWednesday night after efforts of three days. The police had arrested the suspect on whose identification the search operation was conducted in the canal near Rasul headworks along the border area between Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin districts.
Acting DPO Kamran Mumtaz told Dawn that Faisal Shahzad, 27, of Jogi Mohallah had business of rent-a-car and his family had reported to thepolice about his disappearance on the night of April 29. A 1(idnapping case had been lodged against unidentified people and a close friend of the kidnapped man had become the witness.
The car of kidnapped man was found abandoned in Sara-i-Alamgir area and there were marks of blood on the seats of the car. The police also obtained the data of mobile phone calls and quizzed Aamir (wit-ness) who confesse d to killing Faisal whom he owed Rs1.5 million.
SUSPENDED: Kharian Assistant Commissioner (AC) Dr Afshan Rubab has suspended from service patwaris Shafgat mahmood Butt (Dinga) and Saeed Anwar (Dahar) for irregularities, corruption and making a false statement regarding revenue record to senior officials.
Dr Rubab also ordered a departmental inquiry against them.
