Newsleak issue Ex-civil, military officers call for NSC meeting

LAHORE: Former civil and military officers have called for convening of a National Security Committee meeting to discuss ISPR tweet on the government`s notification on the news leak issue and demanded making public the inquiry report in this regard.
A meeting of former civil and military officials was convened by PILDAT here on Friday in the backdrop of recent developments in the civil-military relations in the country.
The participants recommended: `We consider that the tweet of the DG, ISPR, that the `notification is rejected` was inappropriate in terms of the constitution and recommend that a meeting of the National SecurityCommittee should be convened urgently to repair the damage to the civil military relations and to the image of the elected government and its valiant Armed Forces.
`We also recommend that the complete report of the news leak inquiry committee should be made public immediately to put atrest alldoubtsabourthe culpability of persons responsible in this matter of national security.
The meeting was attended by retired Lt Gen Moinuddin Haider, former governor Shahid Hamid, former foreign minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, retired Lt Gen Talat Masood, former federal secretary Tasneem Noorani, Parvez Hassan, Shahid Malik, Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, Shafgat Mahmood and Javed Jabbar.
