MARDAN: The police on Saturday arrested a schoolteacher for allegedly subjecting to corporal punishment three minor students, including two brothers, for coming late to school in Khaksar area here.

The city police bool(ed the teacher under the Child Protection and Welfare Act.

Preliminary police investigations suggested that the students, who hailed from Lower Dir, were residing with the said teacher in the latter`s seminary.

The official said the accused was also teaching at a private school wherein the minor students were also getting education.

The teacher subjected the minors to severe torture for being late to school.

The local residents, infuriated by the incident, demanded of the authorities to give exemplary punishment to the accused.
