Anti-encroachment drive begins in Galiyat today

ABBOTTABAD: Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) Director General Inyatullah Waseem on Saturday said an anti-encroachment drive would begin today (Saturday) on the orders of the Peshawar High Court to remove all illegal constructions in the scenic valley, especially the high-rise buildings.
He asked the owners to remove encroachments voluntarily, otherwise the structures would be razed forcibly and they would be fined heavily.
Mr Waseem said the drive was meant to make the Galiyat a hub of tourist activities, according to a press release.
He issued strict directives to the engineering staff of the GDA to not show any slackness during the course of the drive.
PTI RIF TS: Ali Asghar Khan, member of PTI Central Executive Committee, has accused the party lawmakers and ministers fromAbbottabadof indulging in anti-party policies, pushing workers to the wall. He alleged that the legislators were promoting nepotism which was against the vision of PTI chief Imran Khan.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Saturday, he demanded of partly leadership to award tickets for the forthcoming elections on the recommendations of the die-hard party workers. He alleged that a group had hijacked the party in the district and its policies had dwindled the PTI vote bank.
District nazim Sardar Sher Bahadar, naib nazim Shaukat Tanoli, members of district council Nazeer Abbasi, Jan Mohammad Qureshi and other district and divisional office-bearers and activists, including members of local councils, were also present.
Mr Khan said not a single mega project was started in Abbottabad district as the rulers had ignored the region.
He claimed to have a long list of corrupt people and wrongdoers, which he said, he would present to party highups.GOOD GOVERNANCE: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government through over 130 legislations has ensured good governance and rule of law in the province.
This was claimed by Adviser to Chief Minister on Information and Education Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani while addressing a reception held at the Bar Club on Saturday.
Mr Ghani gave a grant of Rs2 million for the district har and Rs4.8 million for improvement of facilities in the district courts.
He claimed that the PTI government did not believe in making announcements and was doing practical work without any discrimination.
He said billions of rupees worth developmental projects were underway in Abbottabad.
The adviser said funds had been allocated for construction of an 18 kilometres bypass road from Ayub Pull Havelian to Dhamthore to help reduce traffic load on the main KKH. It would also be shortened route to reach Galiyat, he added.
