`Baba Haider has lost people`s support`

By Our Correspondent 2017-05-07
MANSEHRA: Tehreek-iSoba Hazara (Haqigi) convener Mushtaq Khan Swati has claimed that Baba Haider Zaman has lost the people`s support in the struggle for Hazara province due to `miscalculated` moves.

`Baba Haider Zaman shouldn`t play confrontational politics against leaders like PTI chief Imran Khan. The people don`t support his call for restriction on the entry of PTI chairman to Hazara division,` Mr Swati told a news conference here on Saturday.

He said Baba Haider had tried in vain to restrict the entry of Nawaz Sharif to Hazara in 2011.

`I would advise him to make a peaceful struggle for the creation of Hazara province instead of confronting mainstream political parties,` he said.

Tehreek-i-Soba Hazara chairman Baba Haider had announced earlier this week that his party would restrict the entry of Imran Khan to Hazara next week when he was scheduled to visit Abbottabad to address a public meeting to mobilise the people to force the prime minister to step down over the Supreme Court decision in the Panama Leaks case.

Mr Swati said his group would begin the `Snatch Hazara` movement in August to agitate for the creation of Hazara province.

He said his group was in contact with different sec-tions of society for the support of its cause.

PROT ESTS: Scores of the people, including members of village councils, on Saturday took to the streets against the poor construction of the Oghi-Chimial Road and violation of the protections walls `construction plan` The protesters, who belonged to Chimial, Bandi Parow and other villages, staged a rally in Bani Baria area against the Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority.

Councillor Shafiq Tanoli told protesters here that if the government didn`t order inquiry against the contractor for action, the people would block the OghiMansehra Road for indefinite period next week.

He said local MNA Mohammad Safdar had got Rs270 million sanctioned by Erra for the construction of the Oghi-Chimial Road but a sizeable amount of the money was being embezzled through substandard work and breach of completion plan.

`The contractor is neither constructing protection walls nor is he using the quality material. We will not let him continue with this wrongdoing,` he said.

Councillor Mohammad Maroof said if the authorities didn`t halt work immediately before ensuring the construction of the road in line with work plan, the people would block the Oghi-Mansehra Road in Oghi.

He said if substandard material was used, the floods would wash away the road.
