SAHIWAL: Chichawatni police have got the custody of a murder accused after his arrest in Dubai through Interpol.

Shoaib Rasheed was wanted in three murder cases that happened in 2013 and 2017 in the areas of Shah Kot and Okanwala police stations.

He had killed a man in 2013 and two other men 2017 in his village, Chak 86/12-L of tehsil Chichawatni.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bahar Khan told Dawn Rasheed had escaped to Dubai and the court had declared him an absconder. Rasheed had killed one Saddam Hussain over a very minor dispute and a case against him was registered with Shah Kot police.

He remained in Dubai until 2017 when he returned to his village and killed two more persons, named Niyamat and Muhammad Sadiq. He was indicted in two separate cases of murder but he fled to Dubai, once again.

Okanwala Station House Officer Rana Imtiaz said that Chak 86/12-L where the murders occurred was in Shah Kot police area in 2013 but later the village became a part of the jurisdictions of newly-established Okanwala Police Station.

The district police Sahiwal and the Interior Ministry had sent the case to Interpol which captured Rasheed in Dubai on Saturday.

Rana Imtiaz said the accused had been handed over to Okanwala police on Sunday. Correspondent
